Essential "game film" for leaders
I believe one of the most important traits any leader must have is the ability to be introspective. Defined as “a reflective looking inward”, I view introspection as “game film” in asking ourselves:
“How did I do today?”
“What did I get wrong today?”
“What did I get right today” (not for self-congratulations but for replication)
“How well did I handle that conversation/situation?”
Being introspective does not mean being paralyzed by self-analysis and doubt. Leaders must make timely decisions every day and know some of those decisions will be wrong. Likewise, leaders are never flawless in their daily interactions with colleagues. Introspection is essential to humility. And being our own worst critic is how we get better.
